$40.00

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced ceramicist, this class offers insights into blending, carving, and sculptural techniques to make your pieces truly stand out. Join us to explore new ways of adding dimension and detail to your ceramic creations!

Artist Bio:

Kalliope Yvonne is a ceramic artist based in Tennessee, known for her slip-cast and hand-built sculptures and pottery. While her whimsical frog collections have drawn widespread interest, her conceptual work focuses on vessels that explore themes of emotional depth, duality, and personal growth. Using low-relief carvings, vibrant colors, and symbolic elements, her pieces invite reflection on the complexities of the human experience.

Kalliope began exploring abstracted animal symbolism during her undergraduate studies at ETSU, where she graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She returned to ETSU after graduating for two terms of residency in 2019, focusing on further developing her skills in surface design and technical ceramics. Unfortunately, her third term was cut short in 2020 due to the pandemic, but this inspired her to pursue more opportunities for ceramicists. In 2021, she started a residency at the William King Museum of Art, where she created her solo exhibition How to Bloom, featuring plant motifs as symbols of growth and transformation. Documenting the creation of a self-portrait planter from this series sparked a connection with her audience and marked the start of her journey as a content creator. Sharing her creative process online allowed her to connect with her community and refine her artistic voice.

Kalliope’s process begins with a hand-built form and a vision for the clay, imagining the hidden stories waiting to emerge. She carves intricate low-relief designs into each piece and brings them to life with vibrant underglazes, balancing playful colors with deeper themes of emotional volatility and identity. Her sculptures are deeply personal, yet they invite others to find reflections of their own experiences. Through her ceramic art, Kalliope offers an honest perspective on mental wellness and self-discovery.

Once you purchase the workshop, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and any other info that you need before joining! You’ll receive a recording of the 1.5-2 hour session, as well, for 6 months of access.
