Introduction to Crystalline Glazes with Jeff Szarzi -March 12th at 1pm EST
I will be teaching an introduction to the process of crystalline glazes. This will include a discussion of the glaze chemistry and basic materials for glaze recipes, form considerations, demonstrating how to create a catch ring and how they attach to your pot, and lastly I will talk about different firing schedules.
Prior to being a ceramic artist, I was a field biologist, carpenter, and science teacher. I started my adventure in clay 13 years ago as a curiosity. I took ceramic classes at our local college and upon retiring from teaching attended an eight-week spring session at Penland School of Craft taught by the “North Carolina Living Treasure”, potter Cynthia Bringle. I continue to explore the ceramic process by attending workshops online and in person.
My current body of work includes sgraffito, wax-resist, and crystalline glazes. Currently, I sell my work in galleries throughout Alaska, out of my studio/gallery, and online.
Once you purchase the workshop, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and any other info that you need before joining! You’ll receive a recording of the 1.5-2 hour session, as well, for 6 months of access.
