Workshop Description:
Simple Techniques for Dynamic Pottery
Join artist and educator Kevin Kowalski for an engaging online workshop where he will demonstrate how to transform wheel-thrown pottery using simple yet effective altering techniques. Kevin will guide participants through the process of throwing functional forms and then show how to push, carve, and manipulate the clay to create unique and expressive pieces. Designed for potters of all skill levels, this session is packed with demonstrations, expert tips, and interactive learning opportunities.
Artist Bio:
Kevin Kowalski started his journey in clay in high school where he fell in love with the possibilities and process of using clay. He graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a BFA in ceramics (2005) and MA in Education from Concordia, Irvine (2014). He is currently the VAPA Department Chair and Ceramics educator at Esperanza High School in Anaheim, Ca. His travels and experience in clay builds the foundations for his creative process. The inspiration for his artwork comes from the natural world as he develops his creative landscapes both in his pottery and sculptural work. He currently lives and works in Placentia, Ca with his wife and two daughters.
