Workshop Description:
Facets, textures, and out-of-round pots! Andrew will demonstrate how he adds facets and texture to his work and then shapes the forms from the inside-out and he will walk through how he integrates wheel-throwing and slab building techniques to create ovaled and asymmetrical pieces.
Bio:
Andrew Linderman is a studio potter and former high school chemistry teacher originally from the Twin Cities, MN, now living west of Madison in Arena, WI. Inspired by a childhood spent outdoors; he makes functional pots to celebrate the best moments in life, relish in our daily rituals, console us in our tumultuous days, and commune with our fellow humans. Linderman uses his background in chemistry to create surfaces that are enhanced by the various firing processes in which he produces his pots. He creates work in which the functionality of a piece is enhanced by its aesthetic and tactile qualities.

Workshop Description:
In this course Jon will teach you the ins and outs of throwing large. Multiple methods of sectional throwing on the wheel will be covered including coil and throw and tongue and groove stacking. Our goal is to get you more confident using more clay.
Bio:
Jon Stein is a potter and educator from Cincinnati, Ohio. He found clay and the potters wheel at fifteen, igniting a lifelong journey in ceramics. Before earning his BFA at Northern Kentucky University he traveled to Japan to study wood-fired kilns techniques. Following his graduation, he spent time working with artists with developmental disabilities, driven by the belief that creative experiences with clay can significantly enhance quality of life. This commitment to inclusivity informs his work as he strives to make these experiences accessible to a diverse community. Jon’s quest to expand his knowledge of atmospheric firing led him to Utah State University, where he earned his MFA. His teaching roles and artist residencies have taken him across the country. In 2019, he returned to Cincinnati to become the education director of Queen City Clay, where he balances his teaching responsibilities with an active studio practice.
